Ivanka Trump, who married New York Observer owner Jared Kushner in 2009, is due to give birth to their first child on July 14. And now the mom-to-be has revealed that they're expecting a baby girl.
Trump, 29, revealed the baby news in the June issue of Harper's Bazaar, where she happily shows off her growing baby bump in a series of photos. The businesswoman, who's also a judge on dad Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice, says that her famous father is thrilled about the news.
"He's over the moon, he's so excited," she says. "He'll be wonderful, but not as a classic, hands-on, 'Let me take the child for the weekend' type. He won't be that kind of grandfather."
Donald Trump (who, you may have heard, will not be running for President) gushed to the magazine about his daughter's pregnancy. "Ivanka will be an amazing mother," The Donald says. "She's totally brilliant. She's got great beauty, but it's really highlighted by the fact that she is a very smart person. It's a combination you don't see very often. (I hope) my granddaughter will be as much like Ivanka as possible."
Ivanka admits that she may be going a bit overboard in the preparation for the birth of her first child and has collected several books on motherhood, early childhood, and child-rearing. "I do have a bit of first-time-mom syndrome," she says. "I’m already on what I should be doing when she is three and when I should introduce new languages."
With all of her research, one thing seemed to surprise Ivanka the most -- and that is how much babies have to eat. "I was in total shock. I work so close (to home) that I figured I’d return to work and the baby nurse would bring the baby to me, and I’d run home periodically, and I’d make it work," she says. "But every two hours? That’s a whole other level."
And what does her new husband think of all of this? "Jared is ecstatic. She'll be a daddy's girl. I have a feeling they are going to gang up on me."
But through their excitement, Ivanka and her husband are fully aware of the difficult job they have ahead of them. Their baby will be born into the lap of luxury, but the mom-to-be will not let money define their child. "We have our work cut out for us to ensure that our daughter is grounded and not spoiled."
