Google Fiber is one of Google?s most exciting projects, encompassing both face-melting high-speed Internet and TV service. Now, in order to expand its TV content offerings to subscribers in Kansas, Google has signed a deal to bring on two new channels: NFL Network and NFL RedZone.
The multi-year deal show?s Google?s commitment to the Fiber initiative, which in the past has felt like more of a pet-project. Deals like this, in combination with rumors of expansion beyond Kansas, leave us feeling giddy ? simply because we?re imagining the?1000 Mb per second speeds.?It doesn?t matter if you do or don?t like American football, news of content expansion is worth keeping an eye on.
From?John Malkin, NFL Network vice president of affiliate distribution:
Google Fiber subscribers will be able to enjoy our expanded 13-game Thursday Night Football schedule, Sunday NFL GameDay shows, NFL Total Access, Emmy Award-winning NFL Films programming and much more. In addition, NFL RedZone features every touchdown from every game on Sunday afternoons.
As far as when this content can actually be consumed,?Google Fiber customers will be able to subscribe for the package starting September 10th by visiting the Google Fiber site.
