Former Pitt guard Ashton Gibbs, who wasn?t selected in Thursday?s NBA Draft, said he received an offer to play for the Brooklyn Nets? summer league team but is mulling other opportunities.
Gibbs, the Panthers? career leader in 3-pointers and attempts, said the Nets showed the most interest, but he remains a free agent.
?It was a tough draft since I wasn?t drafted, but now it?s my opportunity to show what teams missed,? Gibbs said Friday.
Brooklyn is among eight NBA teams participating in the Orlando Pro Summer League from July 9-13. Other players with local ties who weren?t drafted include West Virginia?s Kevin Jones and Aliquippa?s Herb Pope (Seton Hall). They also are expected to play for NBA teams this summer, along with former Pitt player Brad Wanamaker, who played in the Developmental League this past season.
